Kontum Kontum has once faced its hard time during the American War as being a battlefield. Now, Kontum is a quiet town with a limited exposure to tourism, but enchanting for its striking nature and intriguing cultural scene of several minority groups scattering around the province. Kontum town is a charming first stop with French-styled buildings, a legacy from the colonial era. The Wooden Church, built by the French in 1913 is another attraction in Kontum town. The essential experience when visiting the province is going to villages Bahnar ethnic people whose characteristic culture considerably attract tourists. In their villages, one can see bamboo houses built on stilts, of most interest seems to be the communal hall called "rong". Rong is used as a venue for festivals and village meetings as well as a court of the village. Visitors can also have a chance to enjoy dancing and singing performance of Bahnar people.
