Pleiku
Country Fact: Central Vietnam
Similar to Kontum, Pleiku was a major
battlefield disastrously bombarded by the air raids of American troop
during the wartimes, especially in Ia Drang Valley where hundred American
soldiers and more Communists died. There is not much to see in Pleiku town
itself, one should head further to the ethnic villages out of town where
you can feel the lively culture. Pleiku is a home to various groups of
minority people, among which Jarai and Bahnar tribes are the main groups.
Visitors can experience their distinctive culture and fascinating
lifestyle. The village of Plei Mrong is where you can touch the culture of
Jarai minority. At the village of Dek Tu, De Cop, De Doa, and Dek Rol, the
wonderful lifestyle of Bahnar people will amaze you there.
